As CISO of the Belgian Nuclear Research Centre (SCK CEN) is Dries Van Dyck responsible for identifying, assessing and analyzing the information security risks at the research centre and adapting the information security architecture and policies accordingly.
After his Ma degree in computer science in 1998, he performed academic research in theoretical computer science until 2010 for which he obtained a PhD in 2004. In 2010, he joined the Belgian Nuclear Research Centre to develop ultrasonic instrumentation for the MYRRHA reactor -- an accelerator driven system cooled with lead bismuth eutectic. The first phase, a 100 MeV proton accelerator, is currently being build at SCK CEN.
In 2015, he joined the security department to setup information security at SCK CEN.
His strong background in R&D makes him strive towards the right balance between enforcing information security and providing the flexible environment required for scientists and engineers to do their experiments.
